Written in Time and Other Short Stories is now up on Amazon for pre-order.

There were a lot of difficult decisions I had to make in order for this book to come about. The first of these was including the 3 short stories that were previously published as separate ebooks. I’m still very proud of them. One is even being made into a short video/movie… slowly. So, just looking at that one point, if you choose to buy this book, you’re already saving a buck on those 3 stories, alone.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have a theme with all of the stories (beyond the usual, unexpected twist that seems to pop up in all of them). My brain tends to bounce around when it comes to writing. The stories appear out of the blue, and I have to write them. Being a pantser means that I don’t get to sit down and say to myself, “Hey, let’s write about this topic today.”

One of the things that nobody ever seems to talk about when it comes to self-publishing, are the tiny little niggly bits that crop up near the end of the process. You upload your book cover, and it’s 15 pixels too wide. You forgot to write a synopsis. During the conversion from ebook to paperback, all of a sudden, every first paragraph after your asterisk dividers are now centered. Oh, look! For some strange reason, if someone buys your book in Australia, you’ll get 3 cents. They add up, and can be beyond frustrating.

What’s nice about all of that, though, is that it keeps you on your toes. Nothing is as simple as a single button push. I can’t imagine if I were working with someone else, though. I would have had to send no less than 5 emails, and wait for replies, regarding the cover. It would have been just as many with the format of the book, too (pagination, spacing, typefaces, and a myriad of other little things that cropped up in the process).

But, in the long run, you get better. You learn to watch for certain things. You learn to adjust your timing and schedule. You bend without breaking… and hopefully, in the end, you end up with something you’re extremely proud of, like I am.

If you’re willing to give me a shot, I think that Written in Time is a great introduction to my writing. And who knows, if you like it, maybe you’ll be so inclined as to leave me a review.

P.S. The paperback version will be released just after the ebook (which is due to drop on 3/22).
