How long is it?…

How long should a book be? Hundreds of thousands of guidelines have been posted on the internet. Publishers each have their own requirements based on genre and topic. Well-meaning people from all walks of life have chimed in with what they believe to be the magic range to keep a book at. It’s mind-numbing at times.

I guess the first question is: Who are you asking? I would guess that if you ask an author, you’ll either get pointed to one of the myriads of guidelines I was talking about up there or even a shrug. Personally, I write my stories to be as long as they need to be.

Audiobooks… tell me a story…

img_0093Since I seem to be on the Amazon kick, I thought I’d touch on one of the possibilities we have after (or even before or at the same time) we publish our book. Audiobooks. Amazon has the Audiobook Creation Exchange.

If you head over there, you’ll notice right off the bat that there’s a search bar… just to look for your book (or yourself, if you’re so inclined). If you’ve already published on Amazon, it should find your book with ease. Claim the book as yours, then you have the rights to create the audiobook version (and add some more income to your bank account).

Publishing your eBook…

file3371280732314This week will be the down and dirty, quick and easy steps to publishing your eBook on Amazon. Why Amazon? Because I’ve done it. (don’t know if you’ve noticed the ‘Books’ linky up there.) Why not any others? Because I haven’t… yet.  (I plan to. Possibly.)

So… we’ve written our masterpiece (found our treasure), edited it within an inch of its life (polished it up nice and shiny), and now… we need to publish it (display it in a museum for all to enjoy). The first step is to make sure we have an Amazon account. (don’t have one? I’ll wait… the process is quite simple. AMAZON) Got one, now? Let’s move on.
